There are a few different types of parts on the market. There are OEM parts, and aftermarket parts. OEM parts are made by the original manufacturer, and are an easy way to restore parts of your machine to its original manufacturing specifications. Aftermarket parts are parts which are made by the original manufacturer of your ATV. Each has their advantage and disadvantage.
ATV Aftermarket Parts
Aftermarket parts vary widely in quality. You can get fantastic aftermarket parts, which improve the performance of your ATV. However, the quality of the part you buy can vary depending on the brand. Some vendors study an OEM part and make improvements on its overall function and sell a higher quality product, while others may sell something which serves the same purpose, but is cheaper to produce.
With the changes in quality, the aftermarket part may be intimidating for some. However, an experienced individual can find the perfect balance between price and quality, improving your ride and saving you a few dollars in the process.
OEM ATV Parts
OEM parts will always be the correct part for the job. With OEM parts you can keep your ATV at stock settings, and you don’t want to have to worry about the quality. Most manufacturers will stand behind their parts, and give you a warranty on the part. However, OEM parts can be more expensive, and you’re giving up the chance to shop in the aftermarket parts, meaning you may not be getting the highest quality part available. All aftermarket parts are not made equal, but all OEM parts are. You will always know exactly what you’re getting.

When buying any parts for your ATV, you should have an idea of what is available. Shop around or contact your local ATV parts retailer. Don’t just settle with the OEM part, or an aftermarket part. If you have the budget available, see what upgrades are available for your machine.
